The Faculty of Engineering is a UK top 10 engineering faculty (THE World University Rankings 2017.)
The 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) ranked the faculty third in the UK for research power in General Engineering. More than 98% of its research is of international quality with 85% graded as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
In March 2012, the Faculty of Engineering was awarded Athena SWAN Silver status in recognition of good employment practice for women working within the faculty. In April 2015 the Faculty of Engineering successfully renewed their Athena SWAN Silver award demonstrating significant progress since the original award.
