Geochemistry

The Inorganic Geochemistry Facility measures a wide range of inorganic substances in an array of materials including water, soil, sediment, rock and biological materials. Research includes understanding the essential and harmful elements for health and food security and environmental radioactivity. The facility provides analytical services, technical training and works collaboratively with UK and international partners.

The Organic Geochemistry Facility has the capability to measure organic compounds in soils, sediments and waters at the bulk and molecular level. Research includes evaluating hydrocarbon resources and reservoir studies, climate change, environmental forensics and assessing environmental pollutions including legacy and emerging contaminates in the critical zone plus terrestrial and marine palaeoenvironmental analysis.
