The University of Nottingham
The University of Nottingham (UoN) is a world-class university consistently ranked in the top 30 universities in the UK and European Union, and in the top one per cent of all universities worldwide. It is the nearest Britain has to a truly global university with campuses in China and Malaysia.
UoN is currently placed 15th in the UK and 82nd among all universities globally (QS World University Rankings 2019) and was named the best university in the UK for graduate employment, according to the 2017 The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.
The university was awarded was a Gold standard in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) recognising its consistent delivery of the highest quality teaching, learning and outcomes for its students.
In 2016, the University of Nottingham was awarded the Quality Mark for teaching quality by the Quality Assurance Agency Institutional Audit. The review highlighted good practice in five areas including embedded engagement with students to promote learning opportunities.
In 2014, the Research Excellence Framework (REF), placed the University of Nottingham 8th in the UK by the measure of research power with more than 97% of research at the University recognised internationally.


Which academic departments constitute the GeoEnergy Research Centre?
There are four main academic departments within the University of Nottingham whose research interests align with GERC. The centre has also established a relationship with the Nottingham Geospatial Institute.
The research, academia and impact generated from the University of Nottingham is truly multi-disciplinary with schools and faculties engaged together in major university-wide research initiatives, especially across the sciences.
Faculty of Engineering
The Faculty of Engineering is a UK top 10 engineering faculty (THE World University Rankings 2017)
The 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) ranked the faculty third in the UK for research power in General Engineering. More than 98% of its research is of international quality with 85% graded as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
